Day 9 I just couldn't get myself out of bed this morning. I was 2 hours ahead of California time, and my cold kept me from sleeping well. I finally dragged myself out of bed around 9:30, my time, which was an hour later than I wanted to get up. We got packed and into the bus by 10:15. Nothing really exciting happened today. We drove, my knees hurt, we drove some more. I stopped at a rest stop at about 7:00, still 2 hours ahead of California time. I'm somewhere east of Bakersfield, Texas. It's a very pretty rest stop, nicer than all the others I've seen so far. It would be nicer if it had power outlets and a shower, but oh well. I sat and watched the sunset while Misty frolicked in a very thick, green lawn. She kept trying to chase birds and whatever else, real or imagined, she could find. I finally got her little furry mouse to play with, because she got tired of chasing birds she couldn't reach and started attacking my bare foot.
I made my calls then turned in for the night. It's actually quite pleasant out here, there's a nice breeze but it's not too cold. I plan to get up early in the morning and head for San Antonio. Day 8 - - Table of Contents - - Day 10 The Inn Between © 2002 |
