Building The Bedframe
Because of the limited amount of space, I decided to build the bed frame to sit above the dresser, so as to more efficiently use the space for 2 very large items. The bed will fit partially over the wheel well and the dresser will fit under the bed, in front of the wheel well (see my floorplan)
I started out building the frame with 2x4's as the legs and 1x4's as the side panels around the mattress. I finished the frame, but I couldn't get it into the bus. I forgot to measure before I built it. It fell apart during the tug-o-war that ensued.
Scott calmed me down from my temper tantrum and suggested some supports that I had neglected to install in the first place. You'd think after all my years of building risers for the theater that I would have remembered something so simple, but I didn't, and Scott's suggestions saved the otherwise doomed bedframe. So I completed the frame, inside the bus this time.
The frame is finished and supports both the mattresses and my weight, even under a stress-test of shaking the frame to simulate road movement. SUCCESS!!!
